Digital Camera Reflection

Today we worked with the Barack Obama ES STEP Team on the use of digital cameras and photostory. We learned the functionality of the camera and some of the settings for the Shooting Mode dial. The participants were really excited and expressed some great ideas for the use of cameras in the classroom. We encountered some difficulties in creating the student projects because they have Macs in their classrooms and those computers have iPhoto as the program of choice. We may come back and do some additional training but they are thinking about it. I am excited for their enthusiasm and can't wait until they create their projects with their students.

Welcome to Tia Simmons's STEP Portfolio!

My name is Tia and I have been working with Prince George's County Public Schools for nine years. I taught in the elementary school classroom for seven years and have been working as an Instructional Technology Coordinator for the last two years. I really enjoy learning about new and various technologies and working with teachers to implement those technologies into the classroom. Personally, I enjoy photography and spending time with my family.

As a participant in STEP, I have three goals for the 2010-2011 program year:

• To assist teachers with integrating technology into the classroom, instruction and assessment
• To learn new and train on various emerging technologies
• To increase my professional development
